Just ahead of the holidays, the Luxembourg police responded to a case of domestic violence, drink-driving offences, and several burglaries across the country.

Police were called to Neudorf-Weimershof, Luxembourg City, on Monday in response to a domestic dispute that escalated into violence.

Upon arrival, officers found a man injured in his home. According to police, the man had been attacked with a knife by his wife during what they describe as a "family dispute."

The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment, while the suspect was also taken to the hospital for a medical check-up. Following the intervention, the woman was arrested on the orders of the public prosecutor's office.

Drink driving

Authorities also dealt with two drink-driving cases.

The first occurred on Saturday morning between Kockelscheuer and Bettembourg. A motorist, who had crashed their vehicle into a guardrail, was found lying on the ground. A breathalyser test confirmed they were driving under the influence of alcohol, leading to the withdrawal of their driving licence.

In a separate incident in the Pulvermühle neighbourhood of Luxembourg City, police discovered a driver asleep at the wheel in a damaged vehicle parked in a car park. The individual was reportedly uncooperative, hurling insults at officers. Following a positive alcohol test, their licence was revoked, and they were held in custody overnight. The driver also received a fine for insulting a government official.

Burglaries

On Monday afternoon, police responded to several burglaries across the region.

In Schoenfels, a resident caught a thief in the act, forcing them to flee. Additional break-ins were reported on Rue de la Moselle in Wahlhausen, Niederdonven, and Wellenstein, where intruders managed to search multiple rooms before escaping.
