An agreement was signed on Friday morning, concretising the sale of two Alima shops in the city centre to Delhaize.
Alima Bourse in the upper city and Alima Belair will now become part of Delhaize.
The attractive locations of both shops should be utilised to their full abilities, Delhaize Luxembourg has said. The company has confirmed that the teams of both shops will be taken over completely, aiming for a "gentle transition".
One of the shops is supposed to be taken over by a sister firm, whereas the second one will be entirely integrated in the Delhaize group.
The Alima grocery stores have been an integral part of Luxembourg since the beginning of the 1950s, and are still managed by Romy Hansen.
Delhaize Luxembourg has been present in the Grand Duchy for 100 years, and is continuously seeking to expand its network, it says.
The acquisition of the two Alima shops now increases Delhaize's store number to 62.
