Luxembourg police were busy responding to multiple incidents across the country on Monday night.
On Monday evening, Luxembourg police responded to a range of incidents across the country, including cases of drink driving, break-ins, and a mugging.
Drink driving
The police conducted several interventions related to drink driving. In the afternoon, during a checkpoint on the A1 motorway towards Senningerberg, signs of drug use were observed in both a driver and their passenger. Both individuals were fined.
Later in the evening, two more drivers had their licences confiscated. In Bettembourg, a driver was spotted driving erratically on Route d'Esch, repeatedly stopping at the same traffic light without moving. Meanwhile, in Belair, a driver under the influence of alcohol hit a tree and fled the scene but was quickly located by the authorities.
During the night, another intoxicated driver collided with a parked car on Route de Belvaux in Oberkorn. Police responded to the scene and issued a provisional driving ban to the driver, who was treated by emergency services.
Series of break-ins
Police were also called to a number of break-ins on Monday evening. In Frisange, a break-in occurred at a flat in a multi-family building on Rue Robert Schuman. The perpetrators took a watch and other items.
Meanwhile, in Bettembourg, an attempted burglary took place on Rue de la Montagne. The thief was caught by the resident and fled the scene.
Both cases are under investigation, with forensic teams conducting on-site inspections.
In addition to residential break-ins, cars were once again targeted, with a wallet stolen from a vehicle in Pétange. However, police were able to apprehend the suspect quickly.
Mugging in Luxembourg City
In Belair, police responded to a mugging on Avenue du Dix Septembre. The victim was forcibly robbed of their phone, wallet, headphones, and jacket. Investigations are underway in this case as well.
