At the age of 56, Steve Schmit passed away on Monday. In his absence, RTL not only loses a dedicated employee but also a cherished friend.
It is a sad and dark day for the RTL team. Steve Schmit passed away in the early hours of Monday morning at the age of 56 after a long battle with a relentless illness.
Most recently, Steve served as the Content Director of RTL, after a career with many other responsibilities. He was a radio journalist and television presenter, worked in communications, helped build the RTL.lu website, and was the creative mind behind numerous television shows. For the past seven years, Steve also served as the Deputy CEO.
With Steve, the RTL family loses a dedicated employee and an upstanding colleague. He was always there for the teams, had a kind word for everyone in difficult situations, and contributed to our programs with passion and commitment. He infused his heart and soul into his work while constantly searching for new ideas.
Steve was a fighter. The courage with which he faced his final struggle left us all in awe. He kept planning and working up until his death, demonstrating his devotion and care. The memory of him and his work will live on beyond his passing.
In these bitter moments, we extend our deepest sympathy and condolences to Steve’s wife Marilyn, his three daughters, and his son.
