Prof Michel Mittelbronn's departure from Luxembourg's National Health Laboratory (LNS) underscores ongoing governance issues within the organisation, Health Minister Martine Deprez confirmed in response to a parliamentary enquiry.

Another departure has occurred at Luxembourg's National Health Laboratory (LNS), highlighting ongoing governance issues at the lab.

Health Minister Martine Deprez, responding to a parliamentary question from the Christian Social People's Party (CSV), confirmed that Professor Michel Mittelbronn, a neuropathologist, left the LNS due to unresolved differences with management and the board of directors.

Disagreements centred on the operation of the National Pathology Center, led by Mittelbronn, particularly regarding the accreditation of its activities. Persistent conflicts ultimately led to a mutual decision for him to step down, Deprez said in her response.

She noted that Mittelbronn's exit reflects ongoing governance issues within the LNS. Several staff members have left the laboratory in recent months and years, and the organisation is currently in search of a new general director.

The previous director, along with board chairwoman Evelin Schöck, stepped down earlier this year after only one month in their role.
