The Luxembourgish government is continuing to roll out its new public warning and information system by sending out a new "more intrusive" alert phone message this Monday morning.

If you live in the Mersch canton, be prepared to receive a new "priority" notification on your phone this Monday morning, even if your phone is set to "do not disturb."

Minister for Home Affairs Léon Gloden announced that a "LU-Alert" notification will be sent out "during the morning" on Monday. This marks the first full-scale test using a "cell broadcast" channel, a method described by the government as "highly intrusive" :

"Messages transmitted via cell broadcast will appear as priority notifications, displayed on your mobile device even if it’s on silent or locked, accompanied by an audible alert and vibration," the Ministry explained. "After a few seconds, the sound will stop automatically. So don’t be alarmed when you receive the alert. Consider it practice to help you be better prepared for real emergencies."

Your phone will receive the notification if it's in or near the Mersch canton, as long as it's up-to-date and compatible with the government’s technology.

Remember, this is just a test message and not a real emergency.
