The public prosecutor's office confirmed the discovery of three human skulls stowed in plastic bags at an abandoned house in Bertrange on Wednesday morning.
According to reports, builders working on a property on Rue des Champs found a rotten wooden door when using their machinery. The door opened upon impact, and two plastic bags fell out.
As one of the workers sought to clear the bags away, they realised they contained bones. Initial reports say the bags held three human skulls - a fact later confirmed by the public prosecutor's office.
The skulls have been sent to the National Health Laboratory (LNS) to be examined and to have their age determined. First impressions say the bones are relatively old. The public prosecutor's office has ruled out violent crime at this stage of the investigation.
On Wednesday morning, there was a large police deployment, including the technical teams and the judicial police.
