Starting Wednesday, the ex-hurricane Kirk is anticipated to bring uncomfortable conditions to our region as it moves across the Atlantic toward Europe.
The hurricane has weakened in recent days from a Category 4 hurricane to a Category 1 hurricane. It is expected to lose strength again before it reaches the European mainland in the coming days. However, the effects will likely still be felt here.
As Meteolux reports, Kirk is currently moving northwest of the Azores and is expected to arrive on the French west coast on Wednesday evening. However, where exactly the centre of the storm will pass and how low the air pressure will be cannot yet be accurately predicted, according to Meteolux on X.
"Therefore, it is currently also difficult to say whether Luxembourg will be affected by the storm system at all, and if so, how strong the wind will be", explains the weather forecaster.
There is also not much information available regarding the rainfall that Kirk might bring. However, Kachelmann Wetter, a private German forecast service, speaks of a "low-pressure system with partly heavy rain" that would begin to be felt from Wednesday onwards.
Currently, wind gusts of between 80 and 100 kilometres per hour are predicted for Thursday.
