Police made multiple arrests in drug-related incidents across Luxembourg this week, including a near-collision on the A13 motorway and operations at the central railway station.
Late Wednesday evening, a police patrol travelling on the A13 motorway between Bascharage and Esch-sur-Alzette narrowly avoided a collision when a car suddenly swerved into the overtaking lane.
After stopping the vehicle, officers found both the driver and passenger were under the influence of drugs. A body search revealed a pellet of cocaine, and it was discovered that the passenger had been previously reported to the police.
Suspected of drug trafficking, the passenger was arrested on the order of the public prosecutor's office, and the car was seized.
The driver's licence was revoked, and the incident was officially recorded. The arrested suspect appeared before an examining magistrate on Thursday morning.
In a separate incident on Wednesday evening, another suspected drug dealer was arrested on Rue Heinrich Heine near the central railway station in Luxembourg City. Officers seized all items potentially related to the case, and the individual was detained. The suspect was also brought before an examining magistrate on Thursday morning.
Later that night, police arrested a third individual during a train inspection at the central railway station. Officers found several 50-gramme pellets of cocaine on the suspect. The drugs were seized, and the individual was detained under the orders of the public prosecutor's office. They too appeared before an examining magistrate on Thursday morning.
A further drug-related arrest occurred on Thursday evening in the Gare neighbourhood at Place de Paris. Police observed a suspected drug deal and apprehended both the buyer, who was found with a small quantity of heroin, and the dealer. The dealer was detained and presented to an examining magistrate on Friday morning.
