Nick Clesen, who served in the Chamber of Deputies for the "Gréng Lëscht Ekologesch Initiativ" (GLEI) from 1989 until 1994, has passed away aged 67.

Clesen, who sat as an MP alongside Jup Weber, was reported to have died overnight on Thursday.

He was among a group of nine politicians who staged a demonstration on the steps of the Chamber of Deputies on 10 October 1989, demanding more rights for smaller political parties.

Clesen was also active in local politics in Bettembourg, as well as serving as central secretary for the OGBL trade union. He also worked for the Inspectorate of Labour and Mines.

RTL expresses heartfelt condolences for Clesen's family.
