The longterm president of Planning Familial, Danielle Igniti, is appalled by the Pope's request that people should have more children.

It was a long and tough process to receive a proper IVG law, to make sure that women can take their own decisions over their bodies and their pregnancies.

"… then he rolls around, telling us what we need to do. Those days are over, we will not tolerate this and the Pope should take care of his own things."

"'Bear more kids' is easily said, yet there are conditions. First of all, the question of housing is an issue with a lot of children. The Grand Duke' s wife can afford to expand their house, without needing a construction allowance, without needing anything. For normal people, it is not that simple. Rent for places with two to three rooms is impossible to pay here."

In addition, it is even less probable that one could give those children a future, finance their studies, or simply have the time to care for them while the two parents have to work the entire week, Igniti says.

The Pope had made the comment during his speech at the Cercle Cité on Thursday afternoon, calling on Luxembourg to increase its birth rate to avoid demographic aging with its social and financial consequences.
