The ING bank has released a statement denying plans to carry out further client account closures, after reports circulated regarding the claims earlier this week.

While the bank said it did not plan to close further accounts, it did confirm that several branches in Kirchberg, Cloche d'Or, and Rodange would be shut down.

In the message published on Thursday morning, ING said it planned to re-allocate staff from these branches to offices in the Gare district, Esch-sur-Alzette, Ettelbruck, or Strassen.

Earlier this week, industry rumours had claimed there was potential for a second wave of client account closures, after around 30,000 clients had their accounts shut down by ING earlier this year.
