On 21 September, a new production line for high-tech glass roofs officially opened in Grevenmacher, making it one of the most modern production lines in the world for this product.

A new production line for high-tech glass roofs in the automotive industry has officially opened in Grevenmacher. The inauguration, held on 21 September, was attended by Lex Delles, Minister of the Economy, and Minister for Home Affairs Léon Gloden, among others. This facility, which has been operational since 1992 and became part of the Webasto Group in 2022, has expanded its production area by 13,000 square meters.

With this investment, over 60 new jobs are being created. A key feature of the expansion is the installation of a photovoltaic system on the roof, boasting a capacity of 4.5 megawatts peak. This system is expected to generate approximately 3.95 gigawatt-hours of electricity annually and covers an area equivalent to three football fields, significantly aiding in reducing energy consumption.

Jan Henning Mehfeldt from Webasto highlighted that the facility now hosts one of the most modern production lines for high-tech glass in the world, enhancing the company’s innovative capabilities in roof systems. Within just two years, the site is well-positioned to meet the increasing demand for high-tech glass roof systems in the automotive sector.
