The Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) hosted its 3rd National Civil Security Day on Sunday at Lake Echternach, attracting thousands of visitors.
Between 10am and 6pm, Luxembourg’s firefighters and rescue teams showcased their vehicles, equipment, and various activities to the public.
Attendees learned about the range of emergencies handled by the CGDIS, including forest fires, floods, and rescuing people trapped in damaged vehicles or burning buildings.
Specialised units such as the K9 unit, the high-risk intervention team, the animal rescue team, and the water rescue group were also present, demonstrating their unique capabilities. One of the highlights was the public debut of a new Cargolux water bomber.
The event drew a larger crowd than anticipated, with thousands attending throughout the day.
In an interview with RTL, CGDIS General Director Paul Schroeder noted that this year’s focus on special units proved particularly popular with visitors.
