MP Ben Polidori has officially joined the Luxembourg Socialist Workers' Party (LSAP) after leaving the Pirate Party, boosting the LSAP's parliamentary representation to 12 seats.
The Luxembourg Socialist Workers' Party (LSAP) on Thursday morning announced that MP Ben Polidori has been accepted as a new LSAP member following his recent departure from the Pirate Party. Polidori is said to have requested the change in affiliation, which the LSAP leadership, its parliamentary group, and north section all approved.
"The last months were certainly not easy, but it still became clear to me after brief reflection that my political future can only be with the LSAP. I am now excited to join the members and colleagues of the parliamentary group and stand in for our shared values of solidarity and justice. I am looking forward to getting to know you all", Polidori wrote in the statement.
LSAP members were already informed of the decision via party-internal message on Wednesday evening.
Polidori enjoyed a steep rise in national politics after being elected to the Chamber of Deputies for the Pirate Party in October 2023, giving the party a precious third seat, which has now been lost again. He announced his departure earlier this year due to insurmountable opinion differences.
The LSAP thereby now holds 12 seats in parliament.
