Luxembourg parents should be vigilant about a popular developmental toy that has been recently recalled.

Consumers in France were alerted last month to the risk of toxicity with dozens of products from the well-known brand Rubbabu.

The French Government issued the recall of the soft foam toys for non-conformity due to the “chemical risk” associated with them.

The warning relates to the presence of chemical substances (nitrosamines) exceeding authorised values.

According to the US Food and Drug Administration some nitrosamines may increase the risk of cancer if people are exposed to them above acceptable levels and over long periods of time.

The hazardous items include soft sensory balls, the pull along monkey and the pull along elephant toys, scooters, trucks, trains and cars to list a few.

All affected toys were marketed between 1 January 2018 and 20 February 2024.

If parents have an item from the highlighted collection, the advice given is to destroy it or return it to the place of purchase.

The recall will continue until 31 December 2024.

The Rappel Conso site has published the numerous product recall sheets concerning the Rubbabu brand and details can be found here.
