Findel Airport was temporarily shut down on Wednesday morning due to runway damage, but reopened at 3pm following urgent repairs.

Findel Airport was shut at 8.30am on Wednesday due to holes in its runway. Following urgent repair efforts, small planes of the De Havilland Q400 type were able to resume operations shortly before noon. The runway was fully reopened to all aircraft from 3pm onwards.

However, Luxair's Oslo flight was cancelled while some of its other connections were temporarily suspended.

In response to enquiries from our colleagues at RTL.lu, Luxair advised passengers to still proceed to Findel Airport as usual and to follow instructions given to them by airport staff. The airline indicated that flights will resume as soon as the runway is cleared for use.

Luxairport's Director later confirmed that repair work is expected to be completed by 2.30pm.

A number of departing flights were cancelled, such as flights to Zürich, Munich, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Barcelona, Istanbul and Oslo, while selected arrivals were re-routed to other airports.
