The Independent Luxembourg Trade Union Confederation (OGBL) has expressed concerns over salary disparities among municipal employees in Luxembourg. While salaries for municipal civil servants are set by law, employee wages are determined through collective agreements.

A point system used to determine salaries includes a low and a high value, with a 5.6% difference between them. The higher point value, introduced in 1999, was intended to compensate civil servants for higher pension contributions.

In the southern and central regions of Luxembourg, employees benefit from the higher point value, whereas in the northern regions, a two-class system remains in place. The OGBL is calling for the higher point value to be applied uniformly across all regions to address these discrepancies and ensure fair compensation for all municipal staff.
