The Luxembourg arts community is mourning the loss of one of its musical pioneers from the 1980s. Jean-Paul Endré, a native of Esch-sur-Alzette, passed away over the weekend at the age of 64, just days after his birthday.
Jean-Paul Endré was best known as the co-founder and frontman of the cult band Djuju, formed in 1983. The band captivated audiences in Luxembourg with their unique blend of Latin, funk, salsa, and reggae rhythms, leaving a mark on the Luxembourgish music scene.
Endré, who also played guitar for the band, was a driving force behind their sound. Djuju released their last of nine albums a decade ago.

Beyond his musical contributions, Endré was also a writer. Under the pseudonym "Teacher," he authored the children's story "Edgar the Crow" 20 years ago, raising awareness about environmental protection.
