The Pirate Party lost two municipal councillors over the weekend as both Mondercange's Steven Curfs and Vincenzo Turcarelli from Käerjeng announced their intentions to resign from the party.

Both councillors said they could no longer identify with the party and did not agree with the party's current management practices.

In recent months the Pirate Party has suffered from internal disputes, most notably between MPs Sven Clement and Marc Georgen.

New MP Ben Polidori, who was elected to Parliament in October last year, also announced his intention to resign in July, citing the party's functioning as a key reason for his departure. He is currently sitting as an independent MP.

On Saturday, Steven Curfs, a municipal councillor in Mondercange, announced his resignation from the party and said he would remain in the role as an independent.

Shortly afterwards, Vincenzo Turcarelli, who sits on Käerjeng municipal council, indicated he would also be giving up membership of the party, according to reports on Sunday evening.
