MP Marc Goergen of the Pirate Party has filed a formal complaint with the public prosecutor over falsified bank statements and forged signatures related to the party's translation app project, casting further doubt on the integrity of financial records.
MP Marc Goergen of the Pirate Party confirmed vis-à-vis RTL that he has submitted a formal complaint to the public prosecutor's office on Tuesday, 23 July, because of falsified bank statements and forged signatures made in the context of the party's translation app project. According to the lawmaker, the MALT (Mobile Assisted Language Tool) files in question were intended to simulate that the party had paid money to the National Reception Office (ONA) – which was in fact never done.
MP Sven Clement reportedly already confirmed to the Pirate Party leadership that indeed forged documents had surfaced in the case. However, he further underlined that the party's treasurer had informed him of the existence of at least one file that cannot be retraced, and of which Clement also lacks background information.
