A group which refers to itself as "National-Socialist Youth Luxembourg" is reportedly behind efforts to expose and humiliate alleged paedophiles.
On Tuesday, the public prosecutor's office announced that police had conducted searches among young people attempting to set traps for alleged paedophiles on social networks. Three young adults—two Luxembourg nationals and one French national—were interrogated by the criminal police. An examining magistrate had issued the order for incitement to hatred.
This incident is part of an online campaign originating from the far-right milieu. The aim is to trap alleged paedophiles by faking chats with minors in order to publicly humiliate or punish these individuals.
The newspaper Luxemburger Wort published its own investigation on Wednesday morning. Wort journalist Maximilian Richard discovered the group's activities on TikTok ten days ago.
Richard reports that the group used TikTok to recruit participants for actions against alleged paedophiles. According to the Wort journalist, it was evident that the campaign was not about filing police complaints but about luring people into traps to beat or otherwise harm them.
Continuing his investigation, Richard traced the activities to Telegram, where links were shared. In those chat groups, there was a clear willingness to commit violence. "Various violent fantasies were formulated, and the use of weapons was also discussed," Richard reports.
Maximilian Richard quickly identified the individuals behind the group and the ideologies they represent. According to Richard, this group of young people call themselves "National-Socialist Youth Luxembourg" and are "clearly neo-Nazis," spreading anti-Semitic and far-right content.
During his investigation, Richard obtained propaganda material from the group. This included images showing members performing the Nazi salute at the Jewish cemetery in Limpertsberg in front of a Holocaust memorial.
Our colleagues at RTL.lu asked Richard if he knew about any potential victims.
Richard indicated that there are no recent victims, as the project was still in its planning phase. However, he noted that the core members attempted to carry out an act in May. During this incident, a man was harassed, and the police were subsequently informed, leading to the arrest of four young men. "They then proudly shared this information on their channels and discussed it," Richard said.
