A railway shed which once housed the "Josy" heritage train in Beaufort burned down on Thursday, according to the CGDIS.
The railway shed, which was once used for the "Josy" train which connected Grundhof and Beaufort, caught fire on Thursday afternoon. Fire fighters from Beaufort, Waldbillig, Larochette, Consdorf, Reisdorf and Echternach were deployed to tackle the blaze, alongside Echternach police and Larochette ambulance services.
Unfortunately, the shed was completely destroyed by the flames. The municipal council was unable to say how exactly the fire started.
After the railway was decommissioned in 1948, the shed was used as a chalet for local scout groups, and in recent years even acted as a shelter for residents from the Grondhaff hotel after the latter burned down.
