The agreement between the Luxembourg Science Center and the Ministry of Education expired on Wednesday, while a new convention is yet to be signed.

The Ministry of Education said the Science Center's board of directors had not yet provided a binding statement on whether it will accept the ministry's conditions, despite receiving reminders to do so. The ministry has already proposed a new agreement. However, if the board fails to accept the terms, the Science Center will not be eligible for further subsidies. As the Center has hardly any other significant income, this could means jobs are at stake.

To date, the president and founder of the Science Center remains adamant that there are outstanding bills to be paid to his private company, to cover costs such as the Center's expansion. However, there was no contract or funding commitment for this on behalf of the government.

According to RTL sources, the board will meet on Friday, followed by a general assembly on Monday for the Science Center asbl.
