Opposition parties in Hesperange are challenging a recent hiring decision, alleging a conflict of interest due to the newly appointed coordinator's family ties to Mayor Marc Lies, and are calling for ministerial intervention.
They have written to Minister for Home Affairs Léon Gloden and Minister for Family Affairs Max Hahn, demanding an official statement on the matter.
The controversy centres on the appointment of an individual to the position of coordinator in charge of the "Pacte Communal." According to the local chapters of the Green Party (déi gréng), the Luxembourg Socialist Workers' Party (LSAP), and the Pirate Party, the hired individual has a direct family connection to Mayor Marc Lies.
This relationship, they argue, constitutes a potential conflict of interest. Additionally, the opposition claims the individual did not meet the necessary qualifications for the role.
The opposition parties are urging the ministers to reevaluate the hiring decision and take appropriate action promptly.
