The incident took place at 2.30pm on Monday at the Dippach bypass, near Bettange-sur-Mess.
According to police reports, a worker at a construction site in the area sustained injuries to his shoulder from a metal pole. The circumstances of the incident are still under investigation.
A specialised rescue team from the fire brigade was summoned to the site to free the worker from his predicament.
The worker was later taken to hospital to seek treatment for his injuries. Paramedics and an emergency team from the CGDIS were also present at the scene, as well as representatives of the Inspectorate of Labour and Mines (ITM).
Initial reports initially indicated that the worker had fallen into a hole, but these details were later clarified by the police.
