Shortly after 1pm, the Olympic flame arrived in the Grand Duchy. Along a 1.2 kilometre route, the flame was carried from Apach in France via Perl in Germany to Schengen in Luxembourg.
In the middle of the bridge, Luxembourgish tennis player Anne Kremer took over the flame to carry it to Place des Étoiles in front of the European Museum. Here the flame was received by Grand Duke Henri, Grand Duchesse Maria Teresa and Prince Louis.
Anne Kremer was first contacted by the Olympic Sports Committee of Luxembourg at the end of 2023, when the choice fell on the former tennis player. "That was a moment I will probably never forget," she says.
The flames continued to Yutz, France on Thursday afternoon and will finished in Metz in the evening.
