The Chamber of Deputies spent €65 million on its operations in 2024, according to a recently published report.
On Thursday, a Chamber of Deputies committee presented a breakdown of the Chamber's accounts for 2024, which has been made available on the Chamber's official website.
Members of the committee unanimously adopted the report.
The largest expenditure in 2024 was for staff costs, which totalled €22.6 million. By the end of the year, the parliamentary administration employed 165 staff members. During 2024, five employees were recruited, while another five retired or left the Chamber’s administration. A further €17.2 million for operating costs made up the second largest expense of the Parliament.

Parliamentary allowances and various reimbursements for MPs and their staff reached €16.7 million with around 8,482 attendance allowances paid to Members of Parliament (MPs).
For international parliamentary activities, including MPs’ travel and accommodation expenses, the Chamber spent €1.3 million in 2024. Over the course of the year, 20 official visits were organised, and Members travelled 119 times to take part in international parliamentary assemblies or bilateral visits abroad.
Subsidies for political groups and factions totalled €6.05 million, while the publication and distribution of parliamentary minutes cost €551,000.
The reimbursement of election campaign expenses, covering both national and European elections, amounted to €1.67 million in 2024. Meanwhile, the organisation of conferences and extraordinary meetings represented an additional €508,000 in spending.
One of the notable developments in 2024 was the launch of live broadcasting for parliamentary committee meetings, a project that cost approximately €1 million to implement.
