From Monday until Thursday, HRH the Hereditary Grand Duke will be leading an economic mission to Japan.
According to the Ministry of the Economy's press release, the economic mission will be jointly led by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Xavier Bettel, and the Minister of the Economy, of SMEs, Energy and Tourism, Lex Delles. Director General of the Chamber of Commerce, Carlo Thelen will also be joining the delegation.
The aim of the 60-person mission is to strengthen political and economic ties between the two countries and will focus on space technologies, digital health technologies, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence. The delegation will be visiting Tokyo and Tsukuba.
Included on the schedule are a round table, a Luxembourg-Japan economic forum, and finally HRH the Hereditary Grand Duke, Xavier Bettel and Lex Delles will also have several political meetings with the Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and members of his government.

From June 10 to 13, 2024, HRH the Hereditary Grand Duke will chair an economic mission to Japan led jointly by the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Xavier Bettel, and the Minister of the Economy, SMEs, Energy and Tourism, Lex Delles, accompanied by the General Director of the Chamber of Commerce, Carlo Thelen.
A business delegation comprising 60 representatives of Luxembourg companies and institutions seeking partnerships with Japanese players wishing to expand their activities abroad is accompanying HRH the Hereditary Grand Duke and the ministers.
The mission will take place in Tokyo and Tsukuba. It is organized by the Foreign Trade and Investment Promotion Division of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Defence, Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade through its Luxembourg Trade and Investment Office (LTIO) in Tokyo, in collaboration with the Luxembourg Embassy in Tokyo, the Ministry of the Economy, the Chamber of Commerce, Luxinnovation and the Luxembourg Space Agency.
It aims to strengthen political and economic relations between the two countries, and will focus on space technologies, digital health technologies, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence. A round-table discussion, an economic forum, a networking event focusing on start-ups, as well as thematic activities and company visits will be organized.
HRH the Hereditary Grand Duke, Xavier Bettel and Lex Delles will also be holding a number of political meetings with the Japanese prime minister and members of his government. HRH the Hereditary Grand Duke will also be received in an audience by HM the Emperor of Japan.
