Matgesfeld is a garden project on a five hectare surface with biodiversity at its core in Belval, in the municipality of Sanem.
Beginning in 2017, the 'Matgesfeld Environmental and Educational Centre' is a garden project for young and old in Belval, supported by the Ministry of Education.
What started off as a few garden plots and some school gardens has blossomed into a haven for biodiversity with the additions of a beehive, a chicken coop, a greenhouse, a pond, donated by the conservation syndicate Sicona, and now most recently three rescued pigs!
With the project's resounding success, Matgesfeld continues to grow, having introduced new facilities in 2021 to accommodate more classes and school visits. Such is the center's popularity that there's now a shortage of available plots to satisfy the overwhelming demand.
