From the 9 to the 15 May, the International Animation Film Festival is back in Annecy, France. 6 Luxembourgish co-productions are among the official selection. Film Fund Luxembourg shared the exciting news through an official press release on Thursday.

The Annecy Festival is a prestigious event in the animation film industry, and the Film Fund Luxembourg is participating for the 23rd time with a promotional stand. Here are the Luxembourg co-productions currently in competition:

  • Slocum, a feature film co-produced by Stéphan Roelants (Melusine Productions) and directed by Jean-François Laguionie, known as the last master of French animation. Almost all animation work was completed in Luxembourg by Studio 352, involving roughly forty artists and technicians over a production period of nearly 30 months.
  • Angelo dans la forêt mystérieuse (Into the Wonderwoods), feature film co-produced by Laurent Witz (Zeilt Productions) and directed by Vincent Paronnaud & Alexis Ducord. This collaboration between Luxembourg and France spanned around two years, with a team of approximately 50 individuals from Zeilt studio (Foetz). The film's soundtrack was recorded by the 55-member Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra at the Conservatoire de la Ville de Luxembourg, conducted by Gast Waltzing.
  • La Vie de Château (My Life in Versailles), in the category TV Films, this is a mini-series of 6 episodes co-produced by Melusine Productions (Stéphan Roelants) and France, directed by Nathaniel H'Limi and Clémence Madeleine-Perdrillat.
  • Oto's Planet, a VR creation produced by Skill Lab (Julien Becker) and directed by Luxembourgish film director Gwenael François. This collaborative project involved Zeilt studio from Foetz for animation and motion capture, and Mad Trix from Differdange for sound design.
  • Mamie Lou (Nana Lou), a VR interactive animation directed by Isabelle Andreani, co-produced with Small Creative from France and Zeilt studio from Foetz, Luxembourg - for animation and motion capture.

Fox and Hare Save the Forest, a Benelux co-production including Doghouse Studio in Differdange, is nominated in the 'Out of Competition' category.

Another notable project is "Allah n'est pas obligé, (Allah is Not Obliged)" co-produced by Paul Thiltges Distributions, presented in the "Work in Progress" category.
