After nearly a decade of deliberation, plans for the transformation of the N7 in Roost are set to enter a crucial phase.
The primary objective of the project is to improve the safety of the N7 in Roost through structural enhancements, while improving connectivity to area. However, various factors, including the potential Google data centre project, have led to repeated delays. This summer, authorities aim to make substantial progress on the project, according to Luxembourg's Bridges and Roads Authority.
Despite assurances, municipal leaders in Bissen remain cautious. Mayor David Viaggi recalls being informed two years ago about the project's imminent start — without a specified year. However, the director of the Bridges and Roads Authority provides new reassurance, stating, "I have received confirmation this morning [editor's note: Thursday] that the design office is actively working on the submission dossier. The plan is solid enough that we can assume it will be presented in the summer."
Efforts are underway to acquire road allowances, with plans to execute the project in phases to facilitate simultaneous work at different locations. Among the proposed measures are the construction of three roundabouts, which could start earlier than previously anticipated.
Roland Fox, addressing concerns regarding power cables for a potential Google data centre, expresses confidence in collaboration with Creos for suitable planning.
