The installation of the first blade of the “Nordenergie” wind turbine is currently underway at Karelshaff in the municipality of Ettelbruck. The most challenging aspect of the process is getting the three blades of the turbine in place and bringing them there.

Specialised transporters are required for this task, which inevitably affects traffic. The police provide escort for the convoys.

On Wednesday, the first transporter began its journey from Fond de Heiderscheid, where the nearly 70-meter-long rotor blades are stored. It travelled through Feulen and Mertzig before reaching Karelshaff.

Despite the bad weather, the first blade reached its destination without incidents.

However, on Thursday, the departure was postponed due to excessive wind, as was assessed by operators at Soler.

Looking ahead to Friday, the weather might not be favourable for safe transport.

The wind turbine is anticipated to start generating electricity by mid-year, providing power for approximately 1850 households.
