MeteoLux, Luxembourg's national weather service, has released their latest monthly climate report.
Temperature
March 2024 exhibited a noteworthy departure from the norm, with the average temperature clocking in at 7.9°C. This figure represents a significant uptick of +2.2°C compared to the long-term average.
The warmest temperature of the month was recorded on 20 March: 17.5°C. Last year, the highest temperature recorded in March was 15°C.
Notably, frost was a rare occurrence in the month of March. We only experienced 2 days of temperatures below 0°C, which starkly contrasted to what was historically expected, at least 8 days. Last year, March saw 12 days of frost.
Precipitation
The heavens were certainly generous with rain during March 2024, as indicated by a total precipitation of 73.6 mm. This surpasses the long-term average by a notable margin of +16.6 mm, suggesting a wetter month than usual.
Sunshine
Sunshine enthusiasts may have found themselves longing for more rays during March 2024, as only 105.5 hours of sunshine were recorded.
This falls significantly short (-31.6 hours) of the long-term average, indicating a considerable decrease in sunny weather compared to historical patterns.
