For the fourth time, the "Farm in the City" event is set against the backdrop of the Golden Lady monument, drawing city dwellers closer to agricultural life.

Initiated in 2017, this event is organised by the Luxembourg Young Farmers Association, with Charel Ferring, the association's president, shedding light on its success in a recent interview with RTL Télé.

"As young farmers, we're constantly thinking about ways to bridge the gap between our work and food production and consumers," explained Ferring. He elaborated that the Young Farmers Association has initiated various outreach initiatives, such as their "Ask the Farmer" campaign, which includes visits to school classes where they explain their work to children, often complemented by farm visits.

However, it can prove challenging for children to visit farms outside Luxembourg City due to distance. Additionally, it is essential for the Young Farmers Association to showcase their work to urban consumers. Hence, the idea emerged to bring the farm experience to the city.

Ferring further noted that with the event now in its fourth edition, the previous iterations have reaffirmed the demand and success of this endeavour. He observed a considerable turnout, especially families with children, who were captivated by the animals. He emphasised the opportunity for children to interact with farm animals such as cows and goats up close as truly invaluable.

From 10am to 6pm, visitors can explore the diversity of Luxembourg's farms across a 5,000-square-metre area. A diverse array of animals, including dairy cows, goats, and sheep, await discovery, alongside an impressive display of both vintage and modern farming machinery. Additionally, a tractor obstacle course has been set up for children.

The "Farm in the City" event continues through Sunday, 24 March.
