The Grand Ducal police are set to expand their fleet with 81 new vehicles in the coming months.
The order includes 56 cars that will be fully equipped for patrol duty across the country, as well as 25 unmarked vehicles by the Bavarian brand that will be integrated into the internal fleet.
The vehicles will be supplied by a Luxembourgish dealership of the German manufacturer, which described the order as exceptionally large.
When contacted by RTL, the dealership said that around ten of the vehicles are already in use. All of the cars are petrol-powered BMW X3 models, equipped with a 2-litre engine producing 208 horsepower.
The total cost of the 81 vehicles has not been disclosed.
