Mara Kroth, co-founder and director of GoldenMe
GoldenMe, a Luxembourg-based non-profit organisation, has evolved to meet the challenges of the digital age, striving to bridge the gap between generations and ensure digital inclusion.
In a recent interview with Melissa Dalton on Today Radio, Mara Kroth, the co-founder turned Director of GoldenMe, shared the organisation's journey and its commitment to fostering digital literacy. Born out of the 2018 Ideation Camp at the University of Luxembourg Incubator, GoldenMe initially aimed to combat senior loneliness through in-person social activities. However, the Covid-19 pandemic prompted a shift towards addressing the growing need for digital skills — particularly those that foster social inclusion — among older adults.
Aimed less towards 100% proficiency, GoldenMe emphasises the prevention of exclusion and envisions a society in which everyone has access to basic digital tools. The organisation hopes to extend its impact beyond Luxembourg, creating a movement for greater digital inclusion across Europe.

Mara emphasised the importance of psychological support, motivation, and positive encouragement to GoldenMe's success. By taking a step-by-step approach to learning, a sense of accomplishment is created, while also catering to each individual's needs.
The non-profit welcomes individuals of all ages and backgrounds. If you know someone who could benefit from the organisation's support, they are more than happy to hear from you. Volunteers, including tech-savvy students and retirees, are also in demand and currently play an important role in GoldenMe's success.
