Grevenmacher police were called out to a domestic dispute on Valentine's Day after a man was reported to have beaten his partner.

The couple were still at the scene when officers arrived, according to reports. The public prosecutor's office ordered the man's arrest and he was brought before magistrates on Thursday.

In Luxembourg City, a violent mugging took place near the Corniche on Wednesday. The victim was approached by four individuals asking if he was selling cigarettes. When he declined, the group asked him to empty his bags, and became violent when the victim refused to comply. The attackers succeeded in stealing the man's wallet before running away from the site of the crime. Police have launched an investigation into the matter.
