A wrong-way driver on the A6 motorway was arrested by police at the Berchem service station after crashing into a police vehicle in attempt to flee from authorities.

On Sunday night, police were alerted to a wrong-way driver on the A6 motorway near Kahler. Officers were able to locate the suspect at the Berchem service station soon after. The man refused to get out of his vehicle and even tried to flee the scene. However, he failed to do so and crashed into the stationary police vehicle as a result.

Nobody was injured and officers eventually managed to immobilise the driver, who was then arrested by order of the prosecutor’s office.

Luxury car thefts

Police have also announced that a series of luxury cars, mostly Land Rovers, have recently been stolen in the Gand Duchy. Affected are Range Rovers registered in 2023, with perpetrators targeting mainly those stationed outside over night.

People with information on these thefts should contact the 113 emergency line. Police advise vehicle owners to station their cars inside whenever possible and ensure that alarm systems are working properly.
