Canton of RedangeUncertain future for local currency 'Beki' as inter-communal syndicate withdraws support

RTL Today
The inter-communal syndicate of the canton of Redange has opted to withdraw its support for the local currency 'Beki,' leaving its future in uncertainty.

Despite this decision, a press release from those involved with the currency hints at a potential continuation “in a different form.”

The release expresses optimism within the group and promises the unveiling of “new ideas” during an upcoming presentation on Friday.

Beki is Luxembourg’s only regional currency and marked its 10th anniversary in 2023. The project was initiated by the late Green Party politician Camille Gira, who passed away in 2018.
