The Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) have expanded their operational capabilities with the addition of new search dogs.
Search dogs play a crucial role in various emergency situations, including life-saving missions. However, before these canine companions can actively participate in the field, they must undergo a series of rigorous tests to assess their skills.
The CGDIS recently conducted examinations at its dog-handling unit over the weekend of 4 December, and the results, announced on Wednesday via Facebook, were highly positive. Jahky and Giacomo, having undergone 13 months of intensive training totalling 400 hours, successfully passed their intermediate tests and are now ready to go on mission.
In addition, two other dogs, Thanos and Kaya, demonstrated their proficiency by passing debris and surface tests with handlers Cindy and Gwen, qualifying them for field deployment.
Meanwhile, Elmo and Joe, having excelled in their debris test, are currently preparing for their upcoming surface test scheduled for May.
