The Water Administration warns of continuing flooding risks in Luxembourg, especially near the Moselle.
The rainfall over the last few days has prolonged the rise in water levels in Luxembourg. The Water Administration reports that the Moselle reached its highest water level in recent this Sunday afternoon. The river will maintain this level before going down “slowly.”
At the Stadtbredimus monitoring point, the water reached a level of 558cm during the morning, approximately 28cm above the vigilance threshold. As expected by authorities, the pre-alert threshold of 620cm was not reached.
We will have to wait until Monday morning for the Moselle to drop below the vigilance threshold. However, given that more rainfall is expected around the drainage area of the Moselle, a further temporary rise in water levels is possible during the night from Monday to Tuesday. Even if authorities are unsure, there is a chance that the vigilance threshold may be exceeded again.
