In the wake of the devastating earthquake which recently struck Morocco, the Luxembourg Red Cross is appealing for donations to support its Moroccan counterparts in delivering essential humanitarian aid to those affected by the disaster.
The earthquake, which has caused widespread destruction and casualties, has prompted a rapid response from the Moroccan Red Crescent, with more than 8,000 volunteers actively engaged in search and rescue operations and providing vital medical assistance and psychosocial support to survivors.
Luxembourg's Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn addressed concerns in an RTL interview on Saturday morning and thus far, no Luxembourgish nationals are reported as victims of the earthquake.
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, which has 191 national societies, has released one million Swiss francs to support the response efforts. They report plans to deploy emergency response teams within the next twenty-four to forty-eight hours, depending on needs.
