Shops will welcome customers from 9am in the morning until 7pm in the evening. But this year’s event is not just about shopping, says Mireille Rahmé, president of the capital’s business association. “We’ve organised a number of activities for children. At the Place de Paris, we have Ludoland, which provides a big space with oversized games for little ones, and two entertainers who will be there from 10am until 6pm. Saturne will also have an entertainment stand outside the shop on Avenue de la Gare.”

At Place Guillaume II (Knuedler), there will be skateboarding lessons, a cycling activity with Andy Schleck, and “Bricks4kidz” with giant Lego pieces. Luxembourg City alderman, Maurice Bauer, who oversees commerce, explained: “We are glad to have a great relationship with the commercial union, which allows for open discussions such as those which led to the idea of introducing more entertainment and activities in the city. We made efforts to engage as many services as possible for this event, such as making the Badeanstalt swimming pool free on Sunday, and encouraging museums to offer free admission. There should be something for all the family to enjoy.”
