'Bloomin' Algae'Water Administration and LIST launch algae monitoring app

The Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) and the Water Administration have unveiled 'Bloomin' Algae', a new app that allows users to identify and report water bodies affected by algae as well as enhancing public awareness about the health risks of cyanobacteria blooms.

The Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) and the Water Administration jointly launched the app that allows people to find out which bodies of water are affected by algae. It also offers users the option of alerting others to forming algae that they encounter, as well as uploading pictures. A LIST expert will assess this information and subsequently publish it following approval.

The ‘Bloomin’ Algae’ app also provides information about the health risks of cyanobacteria blooms, commonly known as ‘blue algae’.

The application can be downloaded for free from the App Store or from GooglePlay.
