The Grand Ducal police were embroiled in a high-speed car chase on Friday morning in the capital as a thief took off in a stolen vehicle.

A police patrol spotted the stolen vehicle in Rue Sainte-Zithe on Friday morning, where the driver attempted to flee upon noticing the police car. Officers followed in hot pursuit, racing across the city as far as the A3 in a three-kilometre car chase.

The two vehicles collided near the Gluck roundabout, allowing officers to arrest the driver on the spot. Two police officers suffered minor injuries in the crash and were later treated in hospital.
The public prosecutor's office ordered the driver's arrest. He was subsequently placed in pre-trial detention, while the stolen vehicle was confiscated.
