
Members of parliament met 4,100 times in the Chamber over the last five years, an increase of 15% compared to the previous legislative period.
This included 310 public sessions (an increase of a third) and these sessions lasted 1,232 hours and 21 minutes in total. They also held 3,400 commission meetings (+10%).
In total, 750 bills were submitted, 50% more than between 2013 and 2018. From that number 204 bills were accepted. In the first year of their legislative period only 63 bills were accepted but that increased to 142 in the second year.
But MPs also proposed more bills this legislative period. In total they submitted 83 projects, three times as many as in the previous period.
The number of parliamentary questions doubled: 8,200 questions were received.
Shortly before the summer break, opposition parties slammed the ‘unacceptable’ marathon week in the Chamber, with 33 legislative proposals needing voting on.
