On Friday, Minister of Internal Security Henri Kox confirmed that 24,174 speeding infractions had been registered by the new A7 cameras since 15 March 2023.

At the equivalent of around 6,000 offences per month, and with fines starting at €49, the total sum due would exceed 1.1 million euros.

In response to a parliamentary question by DP MP André Bauler, Kox said that 32.59% of infractions had been committed by cars with foreign licence plates.

The majority of the speedsters were travelling in cars, and the maximum speed picked up by the cameras was 212 km/h in the A7 tunnels.
