With the Luxembourg government's ambition to host a stage of the Tour de France, Minister of Sport Georges Engel has taken action to advance the proposal.
Recently, the Minister announced that he is scheduled to meet with the director of the Tour, Christian Prudhomme, during an upcoming Tour de France event.
Engel expressed his dedication to the cause, stating that he will personally address the matter during his visit to the Tour de France, which he attends annually "with a group of friends."
He stressed the significance of the meeting, as the government has received no formal response to their request thus far. This presents an opportunity for the Minister to discuss Luxembourg's request for a stage in the 2027-2028 editions of the Tour.
In 2027 and 2028, Luxembourg will celebrate the 100th anniversary of Nicolas Frantz's Tour de France victories, which is one of the reasons why the Grand Duchy is trying to secure a stage in these editions of the prestigious cycling race.
