Initially met with criticism from the Council of State, the bill has since undergone improvements and adjustments by the government, ultimately securing approval. However, Claude Wiseler, the Christian Social People’s Party (CSV) president and health spokesman, remains unconvinced that the bill will withstand legal scrutiny.

According to Wiseler, if the bill were to be invalidated by the courts after implementation, it would have far-reaching implications for both the healthcare system and the state. Consequently, the CSV affirms its decision not to support the bill and calls on other political parties to follow suit.

Above all, Wiseler directed his appeal to the Democratic Party (DP), urging them “not to blindly endorse socialist bills” and reminding them of their support for a liberal model of healthcare — an approach “they have championed over the past few months in particular.”

Wiseler implored the DP MPs to act in accordance with their personal convictions, cautioning against blindly adhering to coalition politics without thoughtful consideration. “After all, it’s the end of the legislature, there is no need to do so anymore,” Wiseler argued.

The vote on the bill is scheduled for Thursday morning in the Chamber of Deputies.
